San Diego County Home Prices Jump Up

San Diego County Home Prices

San Diego home prices

The San Diego Association of Realtors just reported that the median resale home price in San Diego County jumped up 12% over the January 2012 prices. It was also reported that the actual number of sales in January 2013 increased when compared to the same period a year ago.

Now that’s great news, and probably the headline in today’s local San Diego media outlets. Unfortunately, it’s not all good news. That’s because this same report showed that on a monthly basis, the January 2013 median San Diego home price was actually down by 7% when compared to December 2012.

Also, it was reported that the January median San Diego condominium sales price had a huge 17% increase over the same period a year ago. But, again, these prices were down by 3% when compared to the median San Diego condominium sales price for December 2012.

Personally, I put more credence on the fact that the year-over-year trends are definitely improving, then on the month-to-month statistics. Plus, although December is a pretty slow month for sales, so his January. Usually, sales start to pick up in March and remain strong through the end of September.
