San Diego Home Prices Hit Decade High
A real estate trend tracking company just reported that the San Diego median home price exceeded half $1 million for the first time in a decade! Yes, the San Diego County median home price in October was over the $500,000 mark. For October the San Diego County median home price was $507,500. so far for the year San Diego home prices were up 11%.
Although this is an excellent report for San Diego County homeowners, the snapback in the San Diego median home price has a way to go before it reaches the levels set in our last housing boom. In November 2005 the San Diego County median home price in an all time record of $517,500! Read more

The real estate reporting company, Dataquick, reported that the median San Diego County home price sold in April rose to $400,000, that was up 21% from April 2012!
So, now, in our housing recovery, San Diego County home prices are at their highest level in five years!

The San Diego Association of Realtors just reported that the median resale home price in San Diego County jumped up 12% over the January 2012 prices. It was also reported that the actual number of sales in January 2013 increased when compared to the same period a year ago. Read more
San Diego Home Prices Move Up
Home prices increase in July.
The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller index reported today that home prices increased in July from June in 17 of the 20 cities tracked.
“This is still a seasonal period of stronger demand for houses, so monthly price increases are expected,” said David M. Blitzer, chairman of Standard & Poor’s index committee. “While we have now seen four consecutive months of generally increasing prices, we do know that we are still far from a sustained recovery.”
Also, eighteen of the 20 cities that the Case-Shiller report analyzed show home prices are still below where they were a year ago. The 10-City composite is down 3.7 percent and the 20-city composite is down 4.1 percent compared to July 2010.
Here in San Diego County home prices rose a tiny0.1 percent in July compared to August, but fell 4.1 percent compared to July 2010.
San Diego County Home Prices and Home Sales Drop
The median price of a home in San Diego County in February fell 4.3 percent according to a report issued byLa Jolla-based MDA DataQuick. DataQuick also reported that Home sales in San Diego County dropped 5.5 percent in February, compared to the same month a year ago.
DataQuick President John Walsh said about this report: “This spring we’ll see an infusion into the market of more traditional buyers, who aren’t necessarily purchasing with an investor mindset. If the stars line up right — low prices, low mortgage rates, available credit, higher job growth and higher consumer confidence — we could see sales shoot back up to more normal levels.”

San Diego County home prices fell in September for the second month after 15 consecutive monthly increases, according to Standard & Poor’s Case-Shiller Home Price Index report.
The resale home  value of a typical house fell 1 percent in September from August. The value had dropped 0.6 percent in August from July.
However, September’s home price was still 5 percent above that of a year ago, according to the index, which reports home prices for 20 cities and the nation as a whole.
San Diego County houses priced under $314,451 slipped 0.9 percent from August; houses priced from $314,451 to $474,176 dropped 2 percent in value; while those priced above $474,176 rose 0.5 percent in value.
The national quarterly index, which measures home prices in the nine U.S. census regions, dropped 2 percent in the third quarter from the previous quarter.
“While housing prices are still above their spring 2009 lows, the end of the tax incentives and still active foreclosures appear to be weighing down the market,” the monthly report stated.
San Diego Home Prices Jump Higher
MDA DataQuick released a report today showing that San Diego County home price median increased 15.8 percent to $330,000. The March figure was up $45,000 from year-ago levels and up $8,000 from February. It seems that the largest percentage increases was in the ‘starter’ or lower end of the San Diego housing market.
