The National Association of Realtors forward-looking pending home sales index rose slightly in September, continuing a steady upward climb that’s lasted several months.

Pending sales were just up 0.3% to 99.5 from 99.2 in August. The index had hit a two-year high of 101.9 in July before slipping 2.6% the next month.

The National Association of Realtors® reported today that after reaching a 19-month high, pending home sales eased in December.

Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, said the trend line remains positive. “Even with a modest decline, the preceding two months of contract activity are the highest in the past four years outside of the homebuyer tax credit period,” he said. “Contract failures remain an issue, reported by one-third of Realtors® over the past few months, but home buyers are not giving up.” Read more »

The national Association of realtors released a report today showing that pending home sales increased by 7.3% in November. the West showed the largest increase for pending home sales of 14.9%. In second place, with an 8.1% increase, was the Northeast. The national pending home sales increase was the largest since April 2010. Read more »

The National Association of Realtors® just reported October Pending home sales rose strongly by10.4 percent to 93.3 in October from 84.5 in September and is 9.2 percent above October 2010! Keep in mind that this data reflects contracts but not home closings.

The National Association of Realtors® chief economist, said: “Home sales have been plodding along at a sub-par level while interest rates are hovering at record lows and there is a pent-up demand from buyers who normally would have entered the market in recent years. We hope this is indicates more buyers are taking advantage of the excellent affordability conditions. Many consumers are recognizing that home buyers in the past two years have had one of the lowest default rates in history. Moreover, continued inventory declines are another healthy sign for the housing market.” Read more »

were up in June for a second straight month in a row according to a report released today by the national Association of Realtors. A pending home sale is one where a contract to purchase has been signed but the sale has not closed yet. Typically, it could take 4 to 6 weeks from the time the contract is signed before the sale would actually closes. Read more »

The National Association of Realtors reported that its seasonally adjusted index for existing home sales rose 5.2 percent in July vs. June.

But, don’t start to jump up & down yet, because the index was still down 19 percent from the same month last year. June’s reading was the lowest on records dating to 2001. Read more »

The National Association of Realtors released a report today showing that pending home sales declined in June by 18.6% below  June 2009 pending home sales level.

The National Association of Realtor’s chief economist, Lawrence Yun,  said: “There could be a couple of additional months of slow home-sales activity before picking up later in the year, provided the job market continues to improve. Over the short term, inventory will look high relative to home sales. However, since home prices have come down to fundamentally justifiable levels, there isn’t likely to be any meaningful change to national home values.” Read more »

The National Association of Realtors just reported the pending home sales index rose a seasonally adjusted 5.3% in March, and was up 21.1% compared with a year earlier.

For March sales contracts rose 12.7% in the South, 1.9% in the West and 1.2% in the Midwest. Contracts declined 3.3% in the Northeast.
