The average contract interest rate for 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages increased to 6.22 for the week ending Dec. 29 from 6.12 percent, with points decreasing to 0.92 from 0.96 (including the origination fee) for 80 percent loan-to-value (LTV) ratio loans. The average contract interest rate for 15-year, fixed-rate mortgages increased to 5.93 percent for the week ending Dec. 29 from 5.84 percent, with points decreasing to 1 from 1.06 (including the origination fee) for 80 percent LTV loans.
