Home Prices Increase

A report today by CoreLogic, showed that home prices in December increased by 8.3% when compared to December 2011! This marked the biggest annual gain in home prices since May 2006.plus, the home price increases were extremely broad-based with 46 of the 50 states showing increases in December.

The top three states with the best percentage home price increases were: Arizona, Nevada and Idaho. On the flip side, the top three states for home price decreases were:Delaware, Illinois, and New Jersey.

On a month-to-month basis, the average US home price in December went up a modest 0.4%. But, when one considers that seasonally November, December and January are perhaps three slowest months of the year for real estate sales, any increase at all during this time is noteworthy.
