Blessed with a near-perfect climate, San Diego is truly one of the most sports-oriented cities in the nation. Almost every conceivable sport (Except those that require ice or snow) can be played here, including golf, tennis, fishing, bicycling, running, swimming, surfing, parasailing, board sailing, racquetball, backpacking and more.

San Diego is about a 2 1/2-hour drive from downtown Los Angeles via freeway rout Interstate 5, which stretches from Canada to the Mexican border. Interstate 8 serves drivers from Yuma, Arizona and beyond from the coast. Interstate 15 provides access from Riverside County, Nevada and the Inter-mountain West

San Diego International Airport Lindbergh Field near downtown is currently served by most major airlines including Aeromexico, Air L.A., Alaska Airlines, America West, American, Continental, Delta, Mark Air, Morris Air, Northwest, Reno Air, Sky West, Southwest, TWA, United, USAir and USAir express.

Amtrak passenger trains provide service to and from Los Angeles. Greyhound and Trailways bus service also connect to L.A. and other destinations.

Excellent freeways and side streets make travel by car or bus easy throughout the county. San Diego Transit Corporation buses serve the metro area and the San Diego Trolley serves the downtown area as well as providing access to the Mexican border town of Tijuana and San Diego's East County. Taxi service, rental cars and tours are readily available.
