#1 US Mortgage Company to Go Bankrupt?

by Bob Schwartz

Thursday's stock market sell-off was partly due to fears about Countrywide drawing down lines of credit.

Standard & Poor's cut credit ratings on Countrywide Financial to A/A-2 and said of the company that the rating is, "reflecting the strong capital and credit profile of Countrywide Bank."  Also, Moody's said  that Countrywide had liquidity to last through the end of 2008.

So, it looks like reports of the demise of Countrywide are very much exaggerated! This is still a very bad real estate market. [tags] Countrywide Mortgage, mortgages, home loans, housing bust, mortgage bust, real estate bubble[/tags] San Diego real estate library

Obviously the big money is no longer in real estate. Your readers should really think about investing in hard assets and naturally I think gold is the best place to be now. spot gold prices

Country-wide is just a few blocks from my home and so far the parking lots still seem to be full. The upper-end LA market seems to be holding up pretty well but the inland market is taking a hit, I guess just like San Diego real estate home values. Orange County lawyers

I wonder if our Houston bail bond business is going to see a pick-up as homeowners get desperate for cash. Houston bail bonds
